Sheridan Hollow Opportunity Area
Members of the Community Development Alliance are working with the City of Albany on a three-phase planning project made possible by the NYS Department of State and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. This effort builds on recent planning for redevelopment in Albany's Sheridan Hollow neighborhood. See the Sheridan Hollow Nomination Study:
In February 2022, the New York State Department of State designated Sheridan Hollow as a BOA, which should help provide additional tools to address disinvestment and blight.

- Investment in public spaces
- City of Albany improvements at the Splash Park, Orange Street Playground, Clinton/Lark Park
- New sidewalks and street trees
- Private investment in green spaces such as Sheridan Hollow commons and community garden spaces
- Housing improvements
- New homeownership housing by Habitat for Humanity Capital District
- Rental housing renovation by Home Leasing along Clinton Avenue
- New rental housing by RSS
- Private investment by local owners and nonprofits to rehabilitate existing buildings
- Planning activities underway for mixed use housing on vacant lots
- Economic Activity
- Commercial spaces along Clinton Avenue are being renovated and made available for small businesses
- Sustainability
- Funding for energy efficiency improvements and rooftop solar projects secured
- Funding secured for green infrastructure and improvements at the Veterans Memorial Park
- Community Building
- Reinvigorated Sheridan Hollow Neighborhood Association with monthly meetings the 2nd Monday of every month.
- Neighborhood clean ups, holiday events, information sharing about programs, job opportunities, status of projects and more
- Increased resources targeted to the neighborhood such as the SONYMA sponsored Spruce Up event in Sheridan Hollow in October 2016.
